EG&L Custom Shop Re-builds and Refurbs

Here are some of our rebuilds and refurbished guitars.

The EG&L Custom Solid Rosewood Tele Style

Here is a link to my Facebook Album showing the full build with descriptions – New Rosewood Tele Project.

This is a handmade, custom, solid rosewood, Tele style guitar. The rosewood is a single piece of highly figured solid rosewood. The upper front of the guitar bout has been sloped for comfort, similar to a Stratocaster. The neck is maple with a rosewood fret board, with jumbo frets, a custom bone nut and Fender Locking Tuners. This guitar also includes a vintage 1965 Fender Telecaster bridge pickup (6.7 K) and a new Fender 1964 Reissue Telecaster neck pickup (7.3 K). The electronics include a Oak/Grigsby 3 way switch, Fender cloth wiring, 250K CTS volume and tone pots with an Orange Drop Cap and a Switchcraft output jack. The bridge is a black and chrome ornate custom unit with roller saddles and a matching ornate control plate.

The EG&L Commissioned Custom Strat

Here is a link to my Facebook Album showing the full build with descriptions – Strat Style – Client Build.

A client got in touch with me earlier this year about finishing up a build that his Grandfather has started 13 or 14 years ago. He told me this body was built by his grandfather and his grandfather’s best friend, but his best friend had passed away before they could complete the project. So the client asked if I could complete it so that he could give it to his grandfather as a present.

The EG&L LPX Custom Prototype

Here is a link to my Facebook Album showing the full build with descriptions – EGL LPX Build

This is one of my original designs. The LPX is a take off on the Les Paul but with my own design twists. It’s lighter and designed with dual humbuckers that can be split to single coils and switched out of phase as well. Kind of my take on Brian May’s Red Special wiring style. This guitar is made from maple and walnut with an antique oil finish.

The EG&L Overdrive Prototype

Here is a link to my Facebook Album showing the full build with descriptions – EGL Overdrive Build – Guitar #2

This is the second custom design prototype I built based upon an SG. I also did something a little off beat. This guitar is built to a Stratocaster scale length @ 25.5″ instead of an SG’s 24.75″ scale. I chose to go with Purpleheart and Maple on this one and use GFS hot humbucker pickups. To say the least, this guitar ROCKS!

The EG&L Talon Prototype

Here is a link to my Facebook Album showing the full build with descriptions – EGL Talon – Build – Guitar #1

These are pictures of t the first guitar I built from the ground up. This is the EGL Talon, designed using a Telecaster as the inspiration. This guitar is made from maple and walnut and has a wonderful dark sounding tone. Pickups are Red and Blue Lace Sensors.

Resurrecting a Vintage 50s Kay Speed Demon

Here is a link to my Facebook Album showing the full build with descriptions – Vintage Kay Speed Demon – Bringing it back to life

This late 50’s Kay Speed Demon was given to me by my buddy Steve. He was hoping that I could bring it back to life. As luck would have it, I was able to find all the missing parts online and have ordered them. Expect to have this beautiful relic back up and playing in a few weeks. So far I’ve given it a thorough cleaning. It has been dried out severely, so re-humidified the body and neck slowly. It took about 10 days to get the wood back to a proper humidity. This is the process I took to revive this beauty.
